Hmm. Now the only paper easily accessible in our office is A4 size (yes, I used discarded sheets of paper). Which brings me to my question - how do you get an equilateral triangle from an A4 sheet? Using the minimum number of folds too, or else the paper will be too crumpled for use.

u want an exact 15 cm traingle?? i guess abt 5 cm more shouldnt be a problem right?
so a really stupid method would be to fold and tear off a strip of the bottom portion of the paper and use this as a ruler (in the sense, something that appears straight when streched). now u could fix one end point to the bottom-left corner and draw an arc.. same with the bottom-right corner.
kinda crude.. but i guess that should suffice. at least i think this inefficient soln its better than breaking ur (or my) head longer. howzzat?? ;)

Here goes some archaeology, since it's been over a year now, but I only just discovered this question here.
Sit some A4 paper in "landscape" format in front of you. Now fold it in half, bringing the top (long) edge down to meet the bottom edge. You can rule a line along the middle if you want to avoid a fold going through your triangle.
Now, take the top right corner and fold it in so that a)the corner is touching somewhere along your centre-line, and b)the fold goes right into the bottom right corner.
Unfold it again. Now the fold makes a 60 degree angle with the bottom of the sheet.
Measure along the fold from the bottom right corner the length you want for the triangle side (in this case 15cm, but with A4 this can be anything up to about 24cm), measure the same distance along the bottom of the sheet from the bottom right corner, and then join up the marks.
Cut along the lines (i.e. the fold and the line joining your marks), stand back and admire your equilateral triangle.
